Program doesn't open - no error message

Toby Baker Updated by Toby Baker

Problem

When a user tries to open the program from the desktop icon, nothing happens.

Cause

It's possible the program is already open, but not visible. Look at your taskbar to see if the program is currently open in a preview.

Solution 1: Program Window is Offscreen

If you see the program window in a preview on the taskbar, it is likely that the program is open offscreen.

This kind of error is most common with users who have multiple monitors and recently adjusted them
  1. Hold Shift and then Right-Click on the program icon on the taskbar, and then select Move.
  2. Press any arrow key once, and then move the mouse. The program window should now snap to your cursor.
  3. Click once to drop the window where you want it to be.

Solution 2: Program Window not visible on taskbar

If the program does not open at all, and is not visible on the taskbar, it is likely the program is damaged. Please see Reinstalling and Repairing Software.
