Component not Registered

Cause

CFS programs call upon sub-programs, which are shared with other applications. Generally, these sub-program files have an extension of .dll or .ocx. Several messages can appear with differing files, such as spin32.ocx, csftpax7.ocx, or Error 339.

  • If the failing program has never been successfully used on this computer, it was probably never properly installed.
  • If the program worked in the past but now fails, a component has probably been deleted or uninstalled. This can be from a variety of factors.

Solution

Most of the time, a reinstallation of the software will fix the error.

  1. Go to the downloads page and download the most recent version of your program's installer.
  2. Once downloaded, right-click the installer and select "Run as Administrator"
If a program was already installed, the installer will instead act as an uninstaller. If this behavior does not occur, and it instead behaves as if the software was never installed before, that is a sign that it was never properly installed in the first place.
  3. Let the installer complete as normal, and try to open the software again.
If the issue persists, make sure you are running the installer with Administrator Rights and that antivirus software is not interfering. Both of these are common causes for this error type.
