Eric Updated by Eric

Some computers need to be disconnected from the internet for security reasons. Follow these instructions to install CFS programs to an offline computer using a USB drive.

A USB drive (AKA a thumb drive or a flash drive) is a small drive that plugs into a USB port on your computer.

Download the installer from a computer with internet access

  1. Insert a USB drive into a computer that has internet access.
  2. Download the desired CFS program installer.
  3. Find the downloaded file in the Downloads folder in File Explorer.
  4. Copy the file to the USB drive.
  5. Safely remove the USB drive.

Copy the installer to the offline computer

  1. Insert the USB drive into the offline computer.
  2. Find the installer on the USB drive using File Explorer.
  3. Double-click on it to launch it. The installer will open. Follow the onscreen prompts.
If it's not opening, try copying the file from the thumb drive to the offline computer's hard drive and then double-clicking on the file.
