Uploading 1099 files to CA SWIFT website

Eric Updated by Eric

Signing up for the California SWIFT System is usually quick and easy.

Simply send them an email:irphelp@ftb.ca.gov

Put in the subject line: Need SWIFT User ID & Password to e-file Information Returns 1099

Give them your contact and business information in the body of the email (including FEIN)

Traditionally, they have responded within a couple of business days. You will get an email with your SWIFT login name and password.
Note: Swift User Id is lower case.
Note: The SWIFT login name and password is NOT the same as MyFTB Account.
  1. Login into you SWIFT account. Select the ToFTB folder.
  2. Click Upload.
  3. An Open File dialog will appear. Open the correct file.
If you have just created your file in Step 4 of the 1099 e-filing article, type CTRL + V to paste in your file name and path. Or, navigate to the correct folder.
Your file will upload quickly and automatically upon opening the file. Many users are uncertain as to whether it uploaded. Watch the lower left-hand corner Uploads Monitor.
  4. Check all your uploads by clicking on Uploads Monitor.
