Error 3343 in Payroll System

Edwin Grace Updated by Edwin Grace

Message text is "Unrecognized database format."

Cause

Generally this means the database is corrupt.

Solution

Sometimes this can be fixed by selecting Repair and Compact from the Utilities menu. If this does not work, you will need to restore the database from a recovery file.

  1. Click Utilities > Repair and Compact. If the problem is not solved, continue to the next step.
  2. Open the folder containing your Payroll System database.
By default, your Payroll System database is located in C:\CFSLib\Pr20yy\PR20yydb, however this might be different depending on your setup. Refer to your Configuration Options for more information.
  3. Rename the file PR20yyDT.MDB to PR20yyDT.old.
If for some reason you are unable to see this files extension, click View, then click File name extensions.
If a warning asking "Are you sure you want to change it?" appears, click Yes.
  4. Rename the file PR20yyDT.ABK to PR20yyDT.MDB.
  5. Open the Payroll System software and verify that the software is working correctly.
Some information may have been lost after restoring the database. It's important to verify all your information is correct, and that recent forms have been saved correctly.
If you still encounter the error after this, you may need to repeat the process, but with an older backup such as PR20yy.AB1.

If this does not work, see Payroll System Database Reconstruction.
