Can I install CFS programs on a Mac?

CFS software does not currently support installation on Mac computers. However, there are some workarounds that users have discovered which allow Mac users to run Windows programs.

Virtual Machines

A virtual machine allows users to run a virtual version of Windows in software on a Mac computer.

Cons:

  • Fast and easy to set up
  • Doesn't require restarting computer to use
  • Requires valid Windows license
  • Most virtual machine softwares require a paid license
  • Slower response time than other options

Apple Boot Camp

Apple provides a dual-boot manager for all Intel processor-equipped Mac computers called Boot Camp. This can be used to install Windows on the machine alongside MacOS.

  • Software is included with MacOS
  • Supported by all Mac computers that have Intel processors
  • Requires valid Windows license
  • Only 1 OS can be running at a time
    • Must reboot to change between MacOS and Windows
    • Cannot run Mac and Windows programs side-by-side

Remote Desktop

If you already have a Windows system, it can be accessed from a Mac computer using Remote Desktop software. Microsoft provides remote desktop services that are compatible with Mac clients, as well as their own setup instructions. Contact your IT department for more information.
