Setting up a progressive or rate schedule tax

Some local taxes are calculated using a rate schedule. These are defined as having different tax rates for different wage levels. Calculations using a rate schedule require the use of the special Local Income Tax item.

Do not use this tax item for New York City or Yonkers. See the separate tax items in the list for those localities.
Only one Local Income Tax item may be added for each employer.
  1. Select Local Income Tax from the Tax Setup dialog.
  2. Click OK to the Local Tax Using Rate Schedule dialog.
  3. Complete the remainder of the screen including assignment of the taxing state. Click OK when finished.
  4. Since the program does not provide local rate schedules, the user must create the file. See Creating a local rate schedule file.
