Error Using Font - There was an error using the font OCR-ACFS [Payroll System Only]

Christopher H Updated by Christopher H

This article is for use with our Payroll System software only.

Problem

When printing from the software the following error message is displayed:

Cause

The Payroll System software uses two custom font files:

OCRACFS.TTF

IDAUTOMATIONMICR.TTF

Both fonts are added automatically into the Windows Font Library when the software is installed. The fonts are use when printing.

If the OCRACFS.TTF font file is missing from the Windows Font Library the error message is displayed.

The most common cause for this problem is a recent Windows Update simply removed the fonts.

There are other possible causes but the solution is the same...

Solution

Reinstall both custom fonts back into the Windows Font Library.

NOTE: We recommend both fonts be reinstalled because if one font is missing there is a high likelihood the other one is missing too. Besides reinstalling fonts takes only a few moments, so it's worthwhile just to be sure.

Follow these steps:

  1. From the Windows Desktop run Windows File Explorer [ Keyboard Shortcut: Windows Logo Key + E ].
  2. Locate Payroll System's program folder. See: Software Locations (Default)
  3. Inside the program folder are backup copies of the two font files with the following names:
    OCRACFS.TTF.BAK
    IDAUTOMATIONMICR.TTF.BAK
  4. Rename each font file to match the corresponding names shown below:
    OCRACFS.TTF
    IDAUTOMATIONMICR.TTF
TIP - To rename a file in Windows File Explorer: Single-click the file to be renamed to highlight it, then press [ Shift + F10 ] on the keyboard. A menu will pop-up. Select Rename from the pop-up menu. Then enter the new name for the file.
  5. Single-click a font file to highlight it, then press [ Shift + F10 ] on the keyboard. A menu will pop-up.
  6. Select Install from the pop-up menu. The selected font will automatically be installed into the Windows Font Library.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 above to install the second font file.
  8. Both fonts should now be back in the Windows Font Library.
  9. Payroll System should be printing forms normally.
