How do I send client data to a colleague via email?

John Logue Updated by John Logue

A client's data can be compressed into a ZIP file and sent to a colleague using the steps described below.

Both sender and recipient should be using the latest version of the CFS program.

Steps for sender:

  1. Create a folder on the hard drive (e.g., C:\ForPartner).
  2. Use the CFS program's Backup utility to create a backup of the client's data in a new folder within the folder you created in step 1 (e.g., C:\ForPartner\SmithAccount).
  3. Open Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the Start button.
  4. Locate the backup folder you created in step 2 (in this case, "SmithAccount") and right-click on it.
  5. Left-click on Send To -> Compressed.
  6. A ZIP file will be created (in this case, "SmithAccount.ZIP").
  7. Attach the ZIP file to your email and send.

Steps for recipient:

  1. Download the ZIP file attached to the email.
  2. Locate the ZIP file using Windows Explorer. (It will probably be in your "Downloads" folder.)
  3. Right-click on the file and left-click on Extract All...
  4. In the CFS program's Restore utility, navigate to the extracted folder and restore the client.
