Import 2017 Lacerte Client List

Note: Importing clients from Lacerte is currently suspended due to database encryption by Lacerte.

This utility may be used by owners of the Lacerte 2017 program (either non-network or network version) who wish to transfer the client information into the current program. The user must select the drive and directory from the list that contains the Lacerte 2017 configuration files. By default the directory is \LACERTE\17TAX\OPTION17 on the drive where the program was installed. At least one of the files OPT.W7, (or for the Lacerte network version OPTXXX.W7, where XXX is the user number in the range of 1 to 999) must be present in the Lacerte configuration file directory. If the file(s) are not found automatically in this default directory on the current drive then the user must change the drive and directory in the list to point to the Lacerte configuration file directory. When the user has found the Lacerte configuration file directory the NEXT button will become enabled and the Import From label will change from red to blue. Click the NEXT button to display the import client selection list. Select the clients to be imported from this list. (Or for the Lacerte network version with two or more users, a valid user number which is in the displayed user number list, must be entered first. If the user number is not known then enter a user number from the list and check the resulting client list for the desired clients.) The I, C, S or P at the end of the client ID number in the list indicates individual, corporation, s-corporation or partnership Lacerte clients, respectively. Then click the FINISH button to import client information into the database.

NOTE: The user will be prompted to replace Clients with matching SSN`s or EIN`s. Unique clients will be added to the database.

This utility imports only the client information such as names and addresses.

If Birthdate fields in the Lacerte program (which specifies a MMDDYYYY format) are entered incorrectly, those fields may import into the database incorrectly.
