Why does Financial Planning Tools indicate restore database is being shared?

John Logue Updated by John Logue

For Financial Planning Tools, database restore from a CD or other Read-only device is not possible. It results in a message box "Database in Use" with text indicating the database is in use by another program or user.

Do the following:

  1. Create a folder on the hard drive called "Temporary."
  2. Copy the backup folder from the CD into this folder.
  3. Right-click on the folder and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
  4. Clear the "Read-only" attribute box, and click OK.
  5. Open the Financial Planning Tools program.
  6. Under Utilities, select Restore Data.
  7. Navigate to the database folder in the "Temporary" folder.
  8. Click NEXT, Select All, and Finish.
