Copy Data Between Single User and Network

A locally stored database of TaxTools WorkShop on a PC's internal hard drive can be copied to a network database, or from a network database to a locally stored database.

Copy Single User Data to Network

  1. On the menu bar, click Utilities > Maintenance > Copy Single User Data to Network.
    Tools > Maintenance > Copy Single User Data to Network
  2. Click Yes to begin the copy of the locally stored database to the network location given, or No or Cancel to cancel.

Copy Network Data to Single User

  1. On the menu bar, click Utilities > Maintenance > Copy Network Data to Single User.
    Tools > Maintenance > Copy Network Data to Single User
  2. Click Yes to begin the copy of the network database given to the local location, or No or Cancel to cancel.

Copying Data

  1. When this dialog appears, click Overwrite all to overwrite preparers with matching ID's without asking, Ask each time for an additional dialog to confirm overwriting a preparer with the same ID, Do not overwrite to not overwrite any preparers, and Cancel to cancel the copy.

    If Ask each time is clicked on the previous prompt, this window will appear to ask whether to overwrite the preparer with the same ID.
  2. Wait for the preparers to be copied, and for the dialog confirming they have been copied.

  3. When this dialog appears, click Overwrite all to overwrite clients with matching ID's without asking, Ask each time for an additional dialog to confirm overwriting a client with the same ID, Do not overwrite to not overwrite any clients, and Cancel to cancel the copy.

  4. Wait for the clients to be copied, and for the dialog confirming they have been copied.

  5. When this dialog appears, click Yes to overwrite module data with matching ID's, No to not, and Cancel to cancel the copy.

  6. Wait for the data to be copied.

  7. When this dialog appears, click Yes to overwrite client files, No to not, and Cancel to cancel the copy.

  8. Wait for the files to copy. A dialog will appear with how many preparers, clients, and files were copied.
