Do I need to buy the W2/1099 program and W2/1099 e-file Add-on in order to electronically file W2/1099 returns?
CFS W2/1099 software allows users to create and print an unlimited number of W-2 and 1099 series forms for multiple employers/payers. Although part of CFS Payroll System, the W2/1099 software can function as a stand-alone program.
In order to electronically file the W-2 and 1099 series forms, users must have both the:
- base W2/1099 program, and...
- W2/1099 e-File Add-on software.
The former cannot create a file that can be e-filed to the appropriate government entity. The latter can create the file but only after it has been prepared in the base program.
In short, the base W2/1099 software allows users to print W-2 and 1099 series forms. Users who have both the base W2/1099 program and the W2/1099 e-File Add-on software can e-file the forms.
