Error TX4OLE invalid property value 1-900

This error sometimes occurs when opening a letter in Tax Corresponder. It may also occur in other CFS programs when creating a cover letter or invoice.

Cause

The error is generally caused by a conflict with a program installed by your Internet Service Provider. The program could go by a number of different names, including:

  • MOTIVESB.EXE
  • MOTMON.EXE
  • SBHOOKSVC.EXE
  • SBHOOK.DLL
  • MPVTM.EXE
  • MCCITRAYAPP.EXE
  • MCCITRAY.EXE
  • GRAMMARLY.DESKTOP.EXE

Solution

First, find out which of the above listed programs is causing the conflict:

  1. Use Ctrl-Shift-Esc to open the Windows Task Manager.
  2. Click on the Processes tab.
  3. Click on "Name" at the top of the left column to sort that column by name.
  4. Scan through the processes to see if one of the above-listed programs is running.
  5. If you find one, end the process.
  6. Try the CFS program again.

If ending the process allows the CFS program to operate, we suggest using File Find or Search to find the program, then renaming it so that it will not automatically start in the future.

For example, in Windows XP:

  1. Click on the Start button.
  2. Click on Search and select All Files and Folders.
  3. Search for the file MOTIVESB (or other program from the list) on the C: drive.
  4. When the file is found, left-click once to select it, then press F2 to enable the rename function.
  5. Change the name by adding an X in front of it, then hit Enter. (To back out of the rename function if you make a mistake, use the Esc key.)

Disabling the program in this manner should not harm your system. However, we recommend renaming the file rather than deleting it so that, if you decide to re-enable the program, you can easily change the name back by removing the X.

The MOTIVESB or other programs from the above list are installed by your Internet Service Provider. It is not necessary for use of the Internet, but may be used for ISP technical support.
