1099 E-Filing Step 1: Inputting Transmitter Data

Eric Updated by Eric

CFS is not a third-party transmitter. CFS does not file the W-2/1099s; you do. CFS creates the file for you to upload to the agency.
Click here for an instructional video on this topic.

For help on other parts of the 1099 e-filing module, see 1099 E-filing Module Overview.

This tab tells the IRS who is transmitting the data electronically and who to contact if there is a problem reading the file. If you used the e-file add-on last year, this data will be imported.

Verify that the information on the screen is correct.  See the field helps for more information, as well as the instructions in the lower right-hand corner of the Step 1 Transmitter Screen (in the module itself).

Before attempting to create your 1098/1099 Information Return files you MUST enter the FIRE Transmitter Control Code (TCC) of the person responsible for the file and attest to its accuracy. All transmitters must obtain a Applying for a IR FIRE Transmitter Control Code (TCC) .

Fill in your Practitioner/Transmitter info. Click Save.

If you are a Practitioner transmitting for one or more companies, the Company Name and information should be yours (the company that owns the TCC, not the company(s) you’re transmitting for).
