1099 E-Filing Step 1: Inputting Transmitter Data

Eric Updated by Eric

For help on other parts of the 1099 e-filing module, see 1099 E-filing Module Overview.

This tab tells the IRS who is transmitting the data electronically and who to contact if there is a problem reading the file.

Before attempting to create your 1098/1099 Information Return files you MUST enter the Transmitter Control Code (TCC) of the person responsible for the file and attest to its accuracy. All transmitters must obtain a TCC IR Application.
  1. Fill in your Practitioner/Transmitter info. Click Save.
If you are a Practitioner transmitting for one or more companies, the Company Name and information should be yours (the company that owns the TCC, not the company(s) you’re transmitting for).
8809 Extensions. See Creating 8809 extension files. This CANNOT be used to e-file an extension for a 1099-NEC. Such extensions are not automatic and must be made using paper Form 8809, which can be found under “General Form/Utilities” in the Module Library.
Store Login info. Stores login information for the FIRE System and state sites.
  2. Once all fields are properly filled out, click Step 2 - IRS File. See 1099 e-filing Step 2: Create IRS file.
