Checks are printing in regular font instead of MICR font used by banks

Eric Updated by Eric

Problem

The account numbers at the bottom of a check print in plain text, instead of the expected MICR font banks use.

Cause

The installer couldn't register the font in Windows, possibly because the file is in a locked state.

Solution

  1. Restart your computer. This will fix most cases.
  2. If the problem persists, see Installing fonts manually and perform those steps.
For more detailed instructions, see this solution.
