What is the purpose of a network license?

The single-user license for CFS programs requires the data be installed on the same computer as the program. The software can be installed on multiple computers, but for each computer the data must be installed on a local drive.

Note, however, that data can be backed up to a network drive, even with a single-user license.

The network license for CFS programs allows the data to be stored on shareable media, such as a network drive, so that it can be accessed from multiple workstations at the same time. With the network license, the program can be installed:

  1. On a server, accessed by multiple workstations,
  2. On multiple workstations, with each workstation configured to access data on the server, or
  3. On a shared drive in a peer-to-peer environment.
