Are CFS W-2 forms compatible with QuickBooks?

This article is about W-2 forms. To read about QuickBooks compatibility with 1099 forms, see Are CFS 1099 forms compatible with QuickBooks?

QuickBooks users should be able to use CFS W-2 4-up blank perforated forms ("perfs") with QuickBooks to print employee W-2s so long as their program prints both the black lines and employee data on the page in a 4-up (1 form on each quarter of the page) format.

QuickBooks users should be able to use Envelope A.

It is important to note that CFS W-2 4-up perforated forms are not preprinted blank black forms. They are simply a blank sheet with perforations although the instructions are printed on the back.

At least some versions of QuickBooks allow users to print employee W-2s in a 3-up format. QuickBooks users should be able to use CFS 3-up blank "perfs" with QuickBooks to print employee W-2s so long as their program prints both the black lines and employee data on the page in a 3-up (1 form on each third—stacked vertically—on the page) format.

However, even though QuickBooks users probably can print 3-up W-2s on CFS 3-up "perfs," Envelope B probably does not work because of the placement of data on the form. For example, an employee's social security number might be visible in the envelope window.

Envelope B is probably incompatible for W-2s printed from QuickBooks.

Our red W-2 Copy A forms should work because they are highly standardized.

CFS does not guarantee paper forms compatibility with non-CFS software.
