1099 E-Filing: Missouri

The filing deadline for 1099 tax statements is the last day of February. If any due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the statements must be filed by the next business day.

E-filing threshold

Missouri does not require 1099 forms to be filed electronically, regardless of how many forms are being submitted.

Submitting files

The state accepts electronic filing for Prior Years.
Corrected 1099's can be submitted as a new original 1099 if it does not change the withholding amount reported. Submit a 1099 file containing all 1099's not just the updated information. Please see below for additional information.

Missouri is not a participant in the Internal Revenue Service’s Combined Federal/State Filing (CF/SF) Program for tax year 2025.

Uploading a File

1. Click the File and Electronic W-2 or 1099 hyperlink under the Electronic Filing Options on the Department’s website: https://sa.dor.mo.gov/efw2/.

2. Enter the Missouri Identification Number and PIN

3. Click the Select File Type W-2 or 1099

4. Click the Choose File Button

5. Enter the Business Name

6. Enter the Contact Name

7. Enter the Email Address

8. Click the "Submit W-2 or 1099" file button

9. Print and/or Save Confirmation Number for your records

  • You will receive a confirmation number after the file is successfully uploaded. Keep this confirmation number for your records.

Corrections

If the error made does not change the withholding amount reported, request the preciously submitted file to be deleted.

Email ElecFile@dor.mo.gov and provide the confirmation number and/or the name of the file. Your replacement file can be submitted at any time.

Note: When resubmitting a file, you will need to upload the entire file, as if you are submitting it for the first time.

An error in the amount withheld cannot be corrected electronically. You must complete an amended Employer's Return of Income Taxes Withheld (Form MO-941) return and submit paper Form 1099(s) with the form.

Cd Filing

The Department accepts Compact Disc (CDs) and Flash Drives. To ensure a smooth process, please follow the below guidelines:

Each of your compact discs or flash drives should have an external label that includes the following details:

  • Missouri Tax Identification Number
  • Business Name
  • Return Mailing Address
  • Tax Year

Ensure the label contains “Password Protected” and the date the password was emailed.
