How do I change my deferrals to the John Hancock 401(k) plan?

Michael Toney Updated by Michael Toney

Employees in the CFS John Hancock 401(k) plan can start, change or stop deferrals from their pay at any time. Moreover, members can request such changes as often as they wish. Whether you wish to start or stop deferrals, or change the amount of your deferrals from one percentage to another, it is easy.

  1. Go to Teams > Entire Company > Documentation > Files > 401(k) Letter2Ted Requesting Changed Contribution template.

  1. Create your letter using the template. Print your letter.
Don't overwrite the template.
  1. Give your letter to MichaelT who, in turn, will give it to Ted.
You and Ted are the only people who need to know what change you're requesting. Of course you can seal your letter in a company envelope, if you like.

Typically, your withholding will change as per your letter at the next payroll cycle.
